The Bare-Faced Trend: How to Master No-Makeup look
By Yemisi Suleiman
This season, the bare-faced trend is taking center stage, offering a fresh approach to beauty that celebrates real skin, natural texture, and effortless radiance. It’s not about covering up, it’s about enhancing what is already there.

The no-makeup look is not entirely makeup-free, but it is all about subtlety. Think feathered brows, tinted lips, sheer skin tints, and a glow that suggests you have just stepped off a sauna bath.
So, how do you get that just-woke-up-pretty look without looking undone? Here’s your step-by-step guide to mastering the no-makeup look. It is the chicest beauty statement of the season.
Step 1: Start with Skincare — Glow Begins Within
The no-makeup look starts with a solid skincare base. Cleanse, tone, and hydrate your skin thoroughly. A plumping hyaluronic acid serum and a lightweight, dewy moisturiser will create a smooth, even canvas. Don’t forget that it should come with an SPF, preferably one that leaves a radiant finish or a slight tint for an extra glow.
Step 2: Skin Tint, Not Foundation
Ditch the full-coverage foundation for a breathable skin tint or tinted moisturiser. These formulas even out the skin while allowing texture and natural tones to shine through. Use your fingers or a damp beauty sponge to blend, pressing the product into your skin rather than layering it on.
Tip: Spot-conceal where needed, under eyes, around the nose, or on blemishes, instead of applying concealer all over.
Step 3: Fluffy Brows
Strong yet soft brows anchor the no-makeup look. Brush your brows upward using a tinted brow gel or clear brow wax, to give them shape and fullness without looking too sculpted. If you have sparse areas, lightly fill them in with a brow pen using hair-like strokes.
Step 4: Cream-Based Colour
Cream products melt into the skin more naturally than powders. Use a creamy blush in a soft rose, coral, or berry tone and dab it on the apples of your cheeks, and even across your nose bridge for that natural, sun-kissed flush. You can also use cream bronzer for warmth and soft definition.
Step 5: Lit Lips
Skip matte lipsticks and go for tinted balms or lip oils. They hydrate while adding just enough pigment to enhance your natural lip colour. A rosy, peachy, or nude hue works best for that barely-there look.
Step 6: Light Touch Lashes (Optional)
If you want a bit of definition, curl your lashes and add a coat of brown or clear mascara. Alternatively, tightline your upper waterline with a soft brown liner for a natural lash-thickening effect without the drama.
Step 7: Glow, Don’t Glitter
Finish with a liquid or balm highlighter on the high points of your face, cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of nose, and Cupid’s bow. The goal is a soft, healthy glow, not a disco ball finish.
