MERRY SEX TALK

The Christmas holiday season is a time for joy, love, and connection. However, it can also be a time of stress, anxiety, and unmet expectations.

Effective sex communication is the foundation of any successful relationship and also one of the first things to suffer in a struggling union, because that’s where couples are most vulnerable.

During the holiday season, this can be particularly challenging due to increased stress, social obligations, and unrealistic expectations but here are strategies for navigating difficult conversations during the holiday season.

  • Choose the right time and place: Find a private and quiet spot where you both feel comfortable and won’t be interrupted. Schedule a dedicated time to address your concerns.
Don’t bring up sensitive topics during stressful moments, like when you’re both rushing to finish holiday shopping or cooking a big meal. Avoid having this conversation in the bedroom as they can create additional pressure/tension. Instead, plan a relaxing evening or a quiet morning when you can both focus on the conversation.
  • Use “I” statements: Instead of blaming or accusing your partner, use “I” statements to express your feelings and desires. For example, say “I feel overwhelmed with holiday preparations and feel like we haven’t had enough quality time together” instead of “You’re always so busy with work and never make time for me.”
  • Listen actively: Make an effort to truly listen to your spouse’s perspective and respond with empathy. Give your lovebird your full attention, and try to understand their point of view and consider postponing the talk if he/she shows signs of distress or discomfort.

-Start with a positive tone: Begin the conversation by expressing your love and appreciation for your partner. Let him/her know that you value your relationship and enjoy spending time with him/her; helps set a positive tone for the talk.

-Be honest and open: Share your desires, needs, and concerns in a non-judgmental way. Be specific about your likes and dislikes, and be willing to listen to your spouse’s feedback. This will help you build trust and intimacy in your relationship.

-Laugh and have fun: Don’t take yourself too seriously, laughter and playfulness can go a long way in creating a positive and relaxed atmosphere. Don’t be afraid to joke or tease each other in a lighthearted way. It will help you both feel more at ease and can help prevent misunderstandings and unmet expectations that would have otherwise led to tension or frustration!

Compliments of the season!
