Beauty mogul leaves luxury life for Catholic priesthood
Former beauty entrepreneur and co-founder of e.l.f. Cosmetics, Scott Borba, is set to be ordained as a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Fresno later this month after leaving behind a life of wealth and luxury in the beauty industry.
Borba, who previously worked as a model, actor, and cosmetics businessman, said his years in Hollywood and the beauty world left him spiritually unfulfilled despite his success. Speaking about his past, he admitted he had been “living for himself” and idolizing luxury and image.
According to reports by ChurchPOP and Angelus News, Borba said he first felt called to the priesthood as a child during Mass, describing a moment when a priest’s robes appeared to “shimmer like glitter.”
He also credited the Virgin Mary for guiding him toward his vocation, saying he has now given away his wealth and business interests in response to his faith.
Borba’s story has drawn attention for highlighting a journey from fame and material success to a life centered on spirituality and service.
