AMIRA IBRAHIM -ALFA

AMIRA IBRAHIM -ALFA

Her name may not ring a bell now but Amira Ibrahim-Alfa is certainly one to watch. She is a red carpet host and budding TV presenter currently seen on any red carpet event that is worth its salt in the county. Amira, alongside Derenle, hosted the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria this year. She was also part of the red carpet team at the recently held Lagos Fashion and Design Week.  The UK-based ebony beauty returned to Nigeria this year for her internship with EbonyLife TV after rounding up her Masters degree in the UK.

How did it feel hosting the AFWN with Derenle?

Hosting AFWN with Derenle was a great experience. As we all know, Derenle has a huge personality so working with someone who has that much experience in the industry was a good way for me to learn and gain insight.

When did you discover your flair for the arts and entertainment?

I have always loved arts and entertainment as a youngster and wanted to do it for a while. I’m an extrovert and, from a very young age, had been fascinated by it.

What do you like about your job?

Meeting amazing people from different walks of life and being able to share my vivacious persona with everyone.

What time do you wake up?

It really depends on what I have to do that day. It could be any time before 6am. But, normally, I wake up by 9am.

Do you have a morning routine you follow?

My morning routine varies from time to time but the one thing that stays constant is my facial routine in the morning.

Do you exercise?

I seldom exercise. Blame it on good genes! I thank God for the figure I got from my mum and dad.

What’s your usual programme like during the week?

I don’t have a specific programme that I follow weekly but if I have work to do or a red carpet event to host, I wake up early, prepare for it and get my glam team ready in order to ensure the day goes well. However, the two things that stay constant are the fact that I always make time for my family and close friends.

How would you describe your personal style?
I am very adventurous.  I don’t have one particular style because, I love trying new things and exploring new clothing ideas and trends.

When you are not working, what is the next best thing you do?

When I’m not working, I’m either catching up on shows or with family and friends, because they are truly my support system.

What beauty regime do you employ?
I use a facial mask 2 or 3 times a week. I use a facial scrub every morning and every evening and do a facial steam once in a while.

What do you have for dinner?
Anyone that knows me knows that I absolutely love food. So, I don’t have something specific that I eat for dinner every evening. It can vary from traditional Nigerian food to Chinese or continental food. I love it all.

How do you relax after work?
I take a nice hot shower then face my friends. Or, I go disturb my older sister.

What diet plan do you employ?
I do not have any diet plan. I do not diet. I am young, fit, slim and never add weight. Dieting is not top priority on my list at the moment.

What time do you go to bed?
I don’t have a specific bed time. I go to bed when I feel tired. My mind is always restless.

What bed time ritual do you follow?
A cup of tea or water. I need to have my peppermint tea before bed time or a glass or bottle of water. Then, I say my prayers.

What fashion and beauty items can’t you do without?
Hmmm… I can’t do without my leggings. I love leggings. I, definitely, can’t do without my lip glosses and lipsticks.

How do you balance work with your personal life?
I always try to remember that work is work and my personal life is my personal life. I don’t mix business with pleasure.  I always make time to be with my family and friends and also prepare for work. At the moment, it is not that difficult for me.
