6 Money Habits to drop to increase your Savings

March 1,2019
Share:

No matter the level of your current income, you should be disciplined enough to set aside some money for your savings. This would help you pull through during the rainy days.

Find below habits to drop to help you save money better:

1. Impulsive shopping

Don’t go about buying everything that catches your eye. Think through about what you are buying, do you need or want it? Can it wait? These are questions and more should help you decide whether or not an item is worth it.

2. Not budgeting

Do you have a budget for your expenses? This helps a great deal. It could be weekly, monthly, quarterly or whatever you are comfortable with. Don’t just buy things without having a budget or making financial plans.

3. Keeping up with the Joneses

There is pressure from all centers especially with social media. You don’t need to live above your means to impress people that don’t matter. Be true to yourself, it is easier to live life on your own terms.

4. Eating out frequently

Why not try cooking your own food. Research shows it is much cheaper and richer. If you want your savings to grow, you have to stop eating out.

5. Premium monthly subscription

Only subscribed to bills that are important. Take time to look at those that are eating into your savings without much benefits. Then unsubscribe, your savings would thank you.

6. Buying items on credit

Buying goods on credit in hopes of paying up when your salary comes in is really one habit to avoid. Slowly, it sucks you into a pool of debt that just sits there consuming money you do not even have to the detriment of your savings.
