Discover uniqueness in wearing twists and locs hairstyle

In the past, African, and indeed, Nigerian women have longed for the white women’s long, flowing hair.

However, nowadays, more women are beginning to discover that there is great beauty in the thick African curl and that it cannot be compared to any hair texture in the world. That accounts for why more women now wear their natural hair, without extensions and weaves.

In fact, more now wear theirs in locs and twists.

For many, the natural untreated virgin hair, when locked or twisted presents a unique option and that is why it’s now trending. So good is this style that many women are encouraged to take the big chop and switch to virgin hair just to get this look.

The good thing is that there are hair care products that cater for this new trend, making these locs look fuller and firmer.

This hairstyle is unique because it does not require a hair extension to achieve.  The natural hair is weaved and braided with the help of the loc and twist crème.

Speaking on the trend, Chijioke Anaele, General Manager, Recare Group, makers of Natures Gentle Touch stated that it is delightful that more women are embracing the uniqueness in wearing their natural, untreated hair. Adding that the reason relaxer became the norm was because people believed they cannot manage their natural virgin hair. But now that more women have discovered that even with relaxed hair, they lose more hair than expected, they have gone back to wearing and giving proper treatment to their hair.

He also stated that the loc and twist hairstyle has helped to boost the confidence African women have about their hair.

One of the benefits of wearing this new trend, according to Anaele is that it helps the hair get fuller and stronger as the tension and stress, which usually comes with attachments and weaves are completely cut out.

This is one of the missions of Natures Gentle Touch is to make a woman confident of herself. When you wear your natural hair, you should feel confident of yourself because the hair is part of you. It is your identity,” he said.
