6 Foods that can brighten your Skin Naturall

Many people especially women go through great lengths to achieve glowing skin. We spent a considerable amount on creams, soaps and gels with some people going through drastic lengths such as taking skin lightening injections. Did you know that what you eat can also affect your skin tone and texture?

Let us explore 7 foods that can be used to achieve glowing skin.

Yogurt

Yogurt contains probiotics which are useful in bringing down inflammation. This is very useful in keeping away breakout outs and pimples. In addition, the lactic acid found in yogurt is considered an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and is good for resurfacing the skin and giving the skin a brightening effect. Drink a glass of yogurt every day or mix with honey and apply directly to the skin for 10 minutes as a mask.

Papaya

Otherwise known as pawpaw, this fruit is high in the papain, and enzyme that helps to remove dead skin cells and skin impurities. The fruit also has antioxidants in it which give the skin a brightening effect. Drink a glass of papaya milk everyday and also apply it directly to your skin for added benefits.

Carrots

Carrots are rich in vitamin A which helps give radiance to the skin. Carrots like papaya are high in carotene which helps to protect your skin against the sun. This sun protective factor of carotene will also help reduce the appearance of age spots and dark patches. Eating enough carrots will give your skin a radiant glow
Nuts and Seeds: Nuts and seeds such as cashews, almonds and sunflower seeds are also very good for the skin. They provide your skin with vitamin E which helps to hydrate your skin and keeps it hydrated. Aim for eating at least 23 almonds a day or its equivalent in other nuts and seeds.

Lime:

Lime, lemon and other citrus fruits are very high in vitamin C, an antioxidant that gives your skin that radiant glow we all crave. Vitamin C visibly brightens the skin and removes age spots and dark patches. Aim for at least 2000mg of vitamin c a day and that be achieved by drinking lemon water, and eating a lot of oranges and other citrus fruit. Also try mixing the juice of a lime in water and apply it to you skin as a mist every day before bed. Doing this can actually bleach away black spots and other blemishes.

Green Peas:

This vegetable contains a high amount of zinc, a mineral that is very good for achieving clear skin. Zinc keeps your skin free from blemishes, has anti- aging and antioxidant properties which contribute to glowing skin. Aim for eating at least a cup of cooked green beans a day.

In conclusion, the key points to note here are antioxidants and sun protection. Protecting your skin from the harmful effects of the sun will prevent premature aging and dark spots.

Antioxidants give your skin a radiance that can’t be matched by any lightening or toning cream in the market and the best way to achieve glowing skin is to start from within.

If you are having a rough time with adding these to your diet, take individual supplements that contain high amounts of these vitamins and minerals.

Have a healthy week!
