Safe sex styles for pregnant women

November 18,2019

Expectant couples often wonder if it safe to indulge in sex during pregnancy. Right now, revel in the knowledge that pregnancy sex is not only safe, but, it is probably good for you. Intercourse is a natural and normal aspect of conception and penetration and sexual movement, will not harm your baby who is protected by your abdomen, the uterus’ muscular walls, and is also cushioned by the amniotic sac’s fluid.

Every woman’s pregnancy sex experiences, differ from one lady to another; including, how she feels about sex. For some females, sexual desires fade during pregnancy while others feel more connected to their sexuality, and get more aroused when they are pregnant. Although it is normal for sexual desire to come and go as your body changes, you may feel self conscious as your belly grows or you may feel sexier with lager, fuller boobs.

Here is the foundation of all you need to know when it has to do with copulating in pregnancy, ‘’ all sex is good as long as it’s pleasurable and consensual.’’ So do not fall in to the trap of thinking that, it is not possible to be pregnant and sexually active.

Sex does not cause miscarriage; even if your man is well endowed, his manhood will never get to the baby because the baby is not in your vagina. The baby is instead, cocooned in her/his own little impenetrable vault within the strong wall of the uterus. If at all he/she ‘’notices’’ anything, it will probably be a soothing rocking movement that may lull her to sleep.

Unless you are given strict and specific reasons for you not to have intercourse by your doctor or midwife, and keep in mind, if your doctor says ‘’no sex,’’ that may include anything that involves orgasm or sexual arousal, and not just intercourse. So, don’t be shy to ask for clarification. If not, it is absolutely safe for you, your spouse and the developing baby.‘’ Men often feel a little ignored because everything is so centered on the baby. So, we encourage couples to have sex because it helps to keep them bonded,’’ says Terry Hoffman, MD, an ob-gyn at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.

If your pregnancy is uncomplicated and you feel up to it, then gladly dance in the sheets until your water breaks; especially, as love making could be more fun in pregnancy precisely because the pressure is off. Before now, it may be that copulation has begun to seem like a chore because you were trying to get pregnant,

Also if you have spent most of your reproductive years trying not to get pregnant by using birth control pills, or fiddle with diaphragms or condoms, well, you are safe as you are now out of the wood.

There is the tendency for your libido to fluctuate throughout pregnancy, evaporating during your first trimester, you may be too exhausted and nauseated. Sore breasts may also limit your desire to be touched or to think about the real act. Iif this is your case, you are good as one study shows 50 percent of pregnant women experience diminishing desire during the first trimester. Do not stress, your interest will definitely come back in a matter of few weeks.

You get livelier in the second trimester when high levels of hormones and your sex drive through the stratosphere. This is the ‘’golden spot’’ says Holly Richmond, a clinical sex therapist and licensed marriage and family therapist. You are coming into your curves of pregnancy particularly when it has to do with romping in between the bed sheets. The fatigue and nausea which are signs of morning sickness are over, and feeling sexy again as you belly start growing big. A lot of ladies become more orgasmic for the first time, or even multi-orgasmic for the first time during the second trimester, tapering off as the due dates approaches. Note that daddies- to-be, may experience an increased attraction to their pregnant spouse due to the changes in their body shape such as bigger boobs.

Others may feel inhibited and scared of causing harm as they come to terms with the fact that you are carrying a real live baby. Have a conversation with your doctor about any concerns you may have and try to enjoy this period.

Towards the end of the third trimester which is the final stage, a number of spouses begin to show a drop in sexual activity. The protruding stomach of a pregnant lady may make sex more awkward and difficult except in a few ‘’creative’’ positions. Even at that, you can still continue to enjoy close bonding right up to the end.

You still have to be careful as pregnancy intercourse is not the time to indulge in vigorous sex positions if you do not want to cause trauma to the vagina or cervix. So you may want to experiment and figure out what works.

Oral sex is cool but do not let him blow in to your vagina, this can cause a fatal air embolism and bear in mind that, as you get closer to your D-day, pregnancy hormones and thinning cervical mucus can make things very messy.

Being laid is a form of workout on its own. It serves up many of the same physical benefits as a session in the gym. These perks can also give the much needed relief from some of the discomforts you may be experiencing, as sex in pregnancy can help you out. Burning a few extra calories can make it a bit easier for you to avoid gaining too much weight during pregnancy.

Sex during pregnancy, helps to lower your blood pressure. A healthy blood pressure is always very important if you are expecting a baby. High blood pressure is linked to the pregnancy complication called preeclampsia.

Having an orgasm increases the contractions in your pelvic floor. This helps to strengthen the muscles needed for and after delivery.

“Feel like you always have to pee? Frequent trips to the bathroom, even leaking when you sneeze or laugh, can happen when you’re pregnant. Plus, as your baby gets bigger and presses on your bladder, it can be even more uncomfortable. The good news is that the same muscles that you’ll be strengthening for your labour can also help with the flow of urine” said Tammy Nelson, PhD, author of Getting the Sex You Want

Copulating during this period aids better orgasms since your body’s nerve endings are more sensitive, your nipples and clitoris are engorged, and there is more estrogen drawing blood flow to your pelvis. Ladies who have difficulty having orgasm prior to pregnancy, may now be able to get one.

It improves self esteem; with the changes that occur in pregnancy, it can feel as if your body is no longer yours. Getting laid can help to restore your body confidence and positive feelings about your person and lift your spirits.

Pregnancy is usually a happy time and it is normal to worry about things like finances, job, and the shape your life will take after delivery, all thanks to Oxytocin; the love hormone that your body releases when you have orgasm.

Pregnancy can be an emotional rollercoaster; but, love making can help to decompress the tension. Also, the oxytocin can boost feeling of love and happiness, making you feel very close to your Spouse, reduces some of that stress and help you sleep better.

The oxytocin that is released is assumed to give your immune system a boost, research suggests. This is vital especially, as you are more susceptible to catching bugs during pregnancy. Stronger immune system can help shield you from the effect of a cold or flu.

It is a really safe way to stay connected with your man, will help strengthen the intimate relationship and bond you have with your spouse to established a healthy habit for the future. ‘’ It’s important to connect with your partner now that you have the time because you are going to need that connection once the baby is born.’’

In line with preparing for labour, whether you are full time or past your due date, having sex won’t put you in to labour but can help your body prepare because, semen contains prostaglandins which help ripen the cervix.

It is normal to use condoms if you are not very sure of your partner’s sexual history. Pregnancy does not protect against sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, herpes, genital warts or Chlamydia. These infections can affect the baby if you decide to play loose.

Though the worries and strains felt by couples can make them dim their interest in love making, however, it is essential to be open about sex to enable both partners to be more sexually comfortable. You may need to play with positions especially later in pregnancy, in order to find one that is both convenient and stimulating for you.

Never lie flat on your back after the fourth month of pregnancy. That way, you can avoid the weight of the growing baby constricting major blood vessels. Also, try lying side by side (spooning), or try positioning yourself upright/sitting on top of your spouse or at the edge of the bed. Bear in mind that Braxton Hicks are mild contractions that women experience towards the end of their pregnancy. However, these hicks do not indicate or induce labour.

Pregnancy sex might even feel more amazing than regular intercourse. You may discover pleasure zones that you did not even know you had or one that gives satisfaction.
