Smiling couple in a beautiful relationship

A blissful relationship is no doubt what we all envisage but sometimes it goes south. This article covers the reason why people stay in an abusive relationship.

Truth is when a relationship becomes abusive, it leaves the victim feeling less and traumatized.

In a previous post we talked about the effect of abusive relationship, You can read it here

When the abuse in a relationship becomes really toxic and life threatening.

It’s always advised that the victim withdraws.

But most cases we hear of stories of people who lost there life while enduring the abuse.

These set of people basically keep it all to themselves and bitterly they pay a grave price.

Sad lad in abusive relationship

Here are some reasons why people stay in an abusive relationship.

History of Abuse: This is more like a generational occurrence.

Children who grew up in an abusive family tend to see it as a normal thing.

Instead of trying to escape, they feel its best to endure just like mama or papa did.

Traumatized : When people face terrible situations growing up.

They seem not to know the difference between a healthy and non healthy relationship.

Insecurity: The fear of how to survive being along after staying together with someone for a long time.

Ladies who are financially dependent on their spouse find it hard to walk away no matter how life threatening it gets.

They simply wouldn’t want to loose the little benefit attached with being with their oppressor.

Emotional Dependence: There are set of individuals whose emotions are tied to what others would say.

I’d rather remain here than go out there and face the wagging tongues of world people.

These are certain reasons why people stay in abusive relationship.

They forget it’s not idea for one to be trapped in such emotional wreck in the name of a relationship.

Any relationship without love, respect for each other, fairness and self will is simply not good enough.
