Ekiti State First Lady calls on FG to declare state of emergency on domestic violence
The Ekiti state First Lady calls on the FG to declare state of emergency on domestic violence in the country.
Bisi Fayemi, Wife of Ekiti state governor made the appeal to declare state of emergency on domestic violence at the 20th anniversary of Project Alert on Violence Against Women in Lagos.
She described domestic violence as a national pandemic of gender based violence.
In her words out of the 36 States of Nigeria, only 11 States have domesticated this law.
Among this 11 states, there is an issue of resources, finance, human, material and technical resources.
She believes if the federal government joins will with those state that gas domesticated the law, domestic violence might be curbed
