I feel insulted when the media calls young actors and directors veterans – Fred Amata

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Fred Amata recently stated he feels insulted when ever he sees the media calling upcoming actors and directors veterans?

He asked what this set of people has contributed to Nollywood and how long have they being in Nollywood to deserve being called veterans.

Fred Amata insisted that veterans are those who have been in Nollywood for a very long time.

Those who have contributed so much to the growth of Nollywood are people deserving of such names.

Fred asked What will the likes of Keppy Bassey Ekpeyong and himself be called if young actors and actresses are called veterans

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos to mark the Directors Guild of Nigeria forth coming 20 years anniversary celebrations, Fred Amata said;

I feel insulted when media people call young actors and directors veterans.

How long have they been in Nollywood?

What impact have they made in Nollywood?

If you call them veterans of Nollywood, what would you call people like Keppy Bassey Ekpeyong or me that have been in the industry for long?”

“Directors Guild of Nigeria, which was founded by six angry men, will be 20 this year.

We will have a three day celebration in Abuja between April 23rd to 25rd.

On the first day of the celebration;

we have a novelty match between Nollywood personnels and the national house of assembly team. The other two days will be filled with activities.

Which includes bestowing of awards on distinguished individuals.

Such as Former president Goodluck Jonathan, Ooni of Ife and several other dignitaries.”

Fred came to lime light in 1986 for his role in a film titled Legacy.

He is also a graduate of theater art.
