Kim Defends Kanye West Amid Divorce Rant

July 23,2020
Share:

Wife of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, a US rapper, has addressed the latter’s divorce comment while making reference to his mental health and compulsive behaviour typical of bipolar disorder.

West had earlier fired a barrage of tweets on how he’s been trying to divorce Kim in a Twitter rant that fueled speculations that the couple could be headed for a split.

In a statement issued via her Instagram story, Kim however, came to his defence, nothing that anyone who suffers from bipolar disorder or has a loved one who does should know how complicated it is to understand.

“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” she wrote on Wednesday.

“I’ve never spoken about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But I feel like I should comment.

“Those that understand mental illness or compulsive behavior know the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or removed from this can be judgmental.

“They may not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

In 2019, West had opened up on his struggles with mental health including bipolar disorder.

Speaking further, Kim called on both the media and those who have expressed concern for West’s well being to give the singer the needed empathy amid efforts to help him get through his ailment.

“I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions… Those who are close to Kanye know his heart,” she added.

“He’s a brilliant but complicated person who, on top of the pressures of being an artist, experienced the painful loss of his mother and has to deal with isolation heightened by his bipolar disorder.

“His words some times do not align with his intentions. Living with bipolar disorder doesn’t invalidate his dreams and creative ideas, no matter how unobtainable they may feel to some.”

West is presently in the race for the US presidential seat ahead of the election which is to hold in November, although he had just two percent of votes when included a recent poll.
