GIVENO 2021 COLLECTION: IMPACTFUL FASHION PIECES

What comes to mind when you think of the phrase ‘Impactful Piece’?
One thing is for sure: clothes can never be impactful without being timeless. An impactful piece has a long-lasting influence and, more importantly, prioritises individuality above all else. The world has seen many fashion trends and seasons. With each season comes clothes which later fade out, but that is not where true impact lies.

The 2021 Giveno collection is a testament to this, proof of what it means for fashion to be timeless and leave an impact. Giveno is a brand established by the creative designer, Chisom Clara Agoucha, in 2018. So far, the brand has done a great job of blending timelessness with thriving as a force in the industry. It creates design pieces that feel both authentic and fresh.

This is what impactful yet versatile pieces are all about: one that feels honest to the creator’s vision and expresses the wearer’s truth.
Now, let’s explore together their just-released 2021 collection.

The first piece in this collection is a two-piece design that commands attention. It is a metallic gold top paired with a black skirt. Their combination gives an edgy sophistication and modern glamour. And its rich blend of colour, contemporary cuts, and fabric texture speaks to the bold and confident woman. However, the trick with such bold designs is that there might be a case of the two different fabrics not blending well, and this could happen especially if the piece is styled in a wrong way. It takes an expert to make them work.

Firstly, let’s move to the top.
One thing we noticed is that the sleeveless top stays fitted on the wearer. The sleeveless arm allows the neckline to flow easily, forming a deep V-neck shape. And it further dips down, but doesn’t reveal too much. This adds visual appeal by showing the model’s shoulders and collarbones. Women who love showing some skin would be attracted to the piece.
But the top’s material is what first draws the eyes to the piece. The metallic sheen fabric gives the top a shiny look. It balances the skirt, reflecting luxury and confidence. The top has a cropped cut, which ends at the waistline. The choice of the top’s length brings a youthful, modern edge, making it ideal for all fashion-forward occasions.

In contrast to the top’s shiny nature, the matte black skirt balances the overall look. The introduction of the high-low hemline adds a bit of drama and offers movement. Also, the skirt is shaped with a gathered design, making one side much shorter than the other. Again, this gives volume and texture. But the design team could soften and elevate the entire piece with an accessory, such as a slim metallic belt, which might work out well.

All of these elements demonstrate the high level of creativity of Giveno’s design team. The piece’s interplay between structure and flow gives it an artistic appeal.

Another part is the neckline. The deep V shape, though modest, might limit the wearability of the piece on some occasions. A slightly higher drape or a modest panel would increase its creativity without sacrificing style.

In summary, this two-piece speaks of confidence and creativity. The daring lines, bold colour array, and unique materials celebrate feminine strength. And this is what makes the piece different from others. You simply cannot go wrong with styling to your own personal style.

Coming straight out of the 2021 Giveno collection is an exquisite gown. This captures both elegance and bold texture. But the choice of colour is highly commendable. The hue reminds us of the freshness and richness of nature. And this is exactly what it gives the wearer, a sense of freshness, elegance and feminine strength.

The dress is a sleeveless, high-neck design. Now, let’s start with the mock turtleneck style. The design frames the face and elongates the neckline of its wearer. And then it continues to the upper part, which looks free but still maintains its fitness on the body.

The structured movement of the piece then flows into a full-length skirt. Without compromising on style, the lower half offers effortless movement, enhancing the wearer’s presence.

Next is the most creative feature of the dress: its shaggy-like surface. It creates an illusion of the piece being layered or tiered. But on a closer look, it is not.

However, it adds an intriguing depth to the gown.
From the back view, the gown has a cut-out section. The flowing skirt, which extends to the floor, makes the piece ideal for red-carpet moments or elite evening affairs.

However, while the gown’s design is usually stunning, it may pose certain challenges. First, the texture of the material might feel bulky on women with smaller frames. And then, the neckline might be restrictive for some wearers, especially in warmer weather or during longer events.

Overall, this piece could also be improved by introducing a subtle slit. This would aid movement and versatility without touching the gown’s dramatic essence. Also, offering a version with a lower neckline and a cap sleeve could make it wearable for different body types and settings.

Making other substitutes available will also play a huge role in attracting customers. Substitutes like a midi version of the same dress would no doubt entice the female population. Still, there is no doubt that the dress captures the spirit of a timeless style.

Giveno brand stunned us yet again with another breathtaking piece. But this time, it comes in a strapless yellow dress, which radiates a feminine and energetic feel. The design’s sunny hue is what would capture one’s attention. It gives its wearer a joyful and delightful posture.
The choice of the neckline, a strapless design, is smart. It pulls the eyes upward. But the strapless cut, if not well-tailored, risks slipping off, necessitating constant adjustment. But this could be avoided by a precise tailoring fit for every woman, especially those with smaller busts and curvier figures. Or better still, the designer could consider exploring a version with off-shoulders or one-shoulder.
The lower half of the piece carries a pleated design. This adds another dimension that allows the skirt to flow beautifully with each step. And just to the left of the hip, a creative cut is added. The addition of high slit transforms the dress into a loud and unforgettable statement. While this is bold, the slit might not be acceptable in some gatherings, especially in formal ones. It still stands as an intelligent design that allows for versatility.
In summary, the contrast between structure and movement, as well as modesty, is a testament to the confident design execution. The 2021 collection has left a print on our hearts with the use of bold hues, thoughtful materials, and detailed tailoring. In fact, it is safe to say the collection has used vibrant colour to achieve its goals; each piece’s hues, ranging from deep green to bright and rich yellow, radiate long-lasting energy.
Also, the careful attention to detail in how well the finishing and seam allowances were done shows an expert eye for design. Most importantly, this collection is perfect for confident and everyday women, as long as you have a keen eye for fashion. Chisom has certainly begun a fashion revolution, and we are here to enjoy every moment of it.
