4 Easy ways to strengthen your hair and stop split ends

Dry hair is brittle hair, and brittle hair is much more likely to break or split than hydrated hair. But you don’t have to resign yourself to a season of split ends!

Follow these 4 simple tips, and your hair will stay happy and healthy.

Check your diet

Healthy hair starts with a healthy diet. A low-protein diet can result in hair loss, so make sure you’re getting an adequate amount of protein from meat, dairy, eggs, legumes, and other protein-rich foods.

Use heat sparingly

Heat is one of your hair’s worst enemies. It dehydrates your hair, causing it to become brittle and prone to breakage.

Many of us use hot styling tools on our hair daily, but it’s important to avoid using them when possible to give our hair a break.

Use gentle tools

Hot styling tools aren’t the only tools that can cause hair damage. Other hair tools like combs, brushes, and elastics can hurt your hair too.

If you use a brush on your hair when it’s still wet, you might be doing more harm than good. The hair is more prone to breaking when it’s wet, so it’s important to be very gentle with it.

Swap your brush out for a wide-tooth comb when your hair is wet.

Apply a nourishing hair mask

This 2-ingredient hair mask will help re-hydrate dry and brittle hair.

You’ll need:
1 egg yolk
1 tsp honey
Shower cap

Combine the egg yolk and honey in a small bowl and mix well.

Apply the mixture to your hair, focusing mainly on the ends.

Put on a shower cap and let the mask sit on your hair for an hour or two, then wash and dry as usual.

With this, your hair regardless of texture, type, colour or anything else, can only get better.
