How to Make Your Living Room Look More Expensive

July 26,2021
Share:

Living room is arguably the most important room in the home. True to its name, it’s where life happens. It’s where guests gather, where you spend lazy evenings (or basking in the soft glow of Netflix—no judgment here), and, in most floor plans, one of the first spaces you see upon entering your home.

Hang Your Curtains Up High

You may not have soaring ceilings or spacious windows, but you can still pretend to be luxurious even if you do not have them. You can create an interesting visual effect by hanging draperies and hardware high up, as close to the ceiling as you can. As a result, your room will appear much taller than it actually is.

Mix Up Your Textures

Using the same one or two textures throughout your living room is a surefire way to make a space look flat and dull. Instead, mix a variety of textures in your upholstery, decorative pillows, throws, and drapery for a more dynamic, elevated look.

Invest in large-scale art

Oversize, attention-grabbing art can spark conversations as well as turn a living space from ordinary to extraordinary.

Roll out a large rug

Choose a larger, less expensive rug over a smaller, more expensive one. When your room feels bigger and airier due to a larger rug, it will feel more expensive automatically.

Display Flowers

You don’t have to hire a celebrity florist to make your home look photogenic. A simple store bouquet or artificial plant will provide your space with instant sophistication and create a warm, welcoming vibe.
