Come December 10, all roads will lead to the Monarch Event Center Lekki for this year’s edition of the GMYT African Humanitarian Awards (GAHAWARDS), a world-class event celebrating the biggest social impact in Africa.

Over the last 8 years GAHAWARDS has played host to the most coveted event in the continent of Africa, seeking and honouring individuals and organisations in various fields, whose exemplary efforts have significantly improved the lives of others, through their humanitarian activities.

It has hosted and awarded more than 2,500 dignitaries from different sectors of the economy, including and not limited to entrepreneurs, corporate bodies, humanitarians, NGO’s, public servants and the entertainment sector.

Princess Kelechi Oghene CEO of GMYT Fashion Academy, organisers of GAHAWARDS says “One of the greatest contributions a human being can make is to give of themselves so completely and openly, that nothing is left to be desired. It is the celebration of the brilliance and inspirational aspirations of these humans that birthed the idea of GAHAWARDS.”

Being a humanitarian herself, her dream she says, is to continue to encourage and inspire people “like myself to continue to give back their best to the environment that, though weighing others down, strengthened us to be who we are.” she said.

Princess Oghene noted that the GAHAWARDS which is organised in collaboration with GMYT FASHION ACADEMY has been able to support its sister arm; GMYT FOUNDATION, a platform used to conduct free entrepreneurial sessions, webinars, workshops, and scholarships worth over 300 million naira. It has also created employment opportunities and empowerment for over a thousand Alumni community through its proclaimed initiative.

“Also through collaborative efforts of our generous sponsors and partners, our dream to empower and support 5000 women through fashion design in 10 years is continuously becoming a reality. “Their support has become for us, a moving train that continually drives the engine of our effort to move forward.” noted Oghene.

With the theme; SORMOUNTING THE CHALLENGES OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA, UNVEILING THE FUTURE’, this year’s event like the previous, will feature the unveiling, and honouring of the next generation of fashion entreprenuers, who have passed through GMYT FASHION ACADEMY AND GMYT FOUNDATION at this prestigious award ceremony.

Billed to hold at the Throne Room of the Monarch Event center, it will feature the biggest humanitarian awards, empowerment scheme, an exclusive runway show, comedy, dinner and Gala Nite.

There will also be artist performances and much more lined up for an unforgettable experience.
