Filmmaker, Ernest Obi, asks skit makers to stop making skits on ritual killings

Actor, Ernest Obi

Nigerian star actor and filmmaker, Ernest Obi, has called out skit makers who would rather make skits on ritual killings even amid the rise of such practices and cybercrime also known as ‘yahoo yahoo’ among youths in recent times.

This was in reaction to a viral video wherein four young men believed to be skit makers were seen encouraging boys to use their girlfriends for rituals in what was said to be a prank.

The actor went on to condemn the idea behind the video in an Instagram post, saying such is capable of further aiding crime in society.

He further called on relevant authorities including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), police as well as religious bodies to intensify efforts to address the menace of ritual killings.

“This is not funny, this is not a joke, it is not a skit or a movie. My soul is bitter, these young men are of sound mind promoting murder,” he wrote.

“Enough of this madness and stupidity. Relevant authorities must swing into action and put an end to this. I refuse to accept that it is cool or acceptable for some lazy-minded animals to murder people (girls/women) in the name of becoming rich without working for it.

“This is not reflective of our culture or traditions, it must end now. Legislators must wake up, if you kill, then you should be killed. The churches/pastors/priests, the mosques/clerics, the traditional rulers, and traditionalists all need to speak up and fight this evil that is becoming a norm.”
