Music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, fast-rising singer, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, and the Cavemen band, are set to headline a concert organised by New Afrika Shrine to mark this year’s Easter celebration.

The pay-per-view concert is also to commemorate the launch of Afrika Shrine TV, a live-streaming platform initiated to broadcast happenings at the 2,500-capacity facility to a global audience.

Rema is scheduled to perform at the facility on April 15 while 2Baba and The Cavemen are billed for April 16 and 17 respectively.

In a blog post, the organisers said all live-streamed performances at the venue would be available to subscribers for a further seven days.

It added that with a monthly payment of $5, subscribers will have full access to unique content including Fela’s documentaries, historical recordings, and concerts.

“Enjoy these sensational shows from the comfort of your home at $5/day or an introductory offer of all 3 events for $10. Each event, following live-streaming, will be available to subscribers for a further 7 days.”

Speaking with eyesofalagosboy.com about the TV launch, Yeni Kuti, daughter of Fela Kuti, the late Afrobeat icon, said:

I’m happy about the Afrika Shrine TV, it means that the Shrine has gone to the next level – Live at the shrine. People will be watching all the activities going on, performances, birthday parties – its our reality TV and I am excited about it.”

“We are no more analog, the Afrika Shrine is digital.”

The New Afrika Shrine, a replacement for the Afrika Shrine which was demolished by the federal government in 1977, is managed by Femi, Fela’s eldest son.

The facility has hosted several top figures in the past including Emmanuel Macron, France’s president.

Prominent artistes such as Wizkid, Davido, Timaya, Pasuma, Reminisce have also performed at the iconic facility.
