Hollywood actor, Will Smith to be paid $35 million for role in ‘Emancipation’
Will Smith has established himself as one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors. After slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, the actor became a trending topic for several weeks, however, he has since recovered.
The actor will get a staggering $35 million (N14.5 billion) from his part in the suspenseful Apple TV movie Emancipation.
The movie’s release date was reportedly originally set for this year, but after the Oscars slap scenario, it was postponed till 2023.
In an interview he gave in 2021, Smith discussed the movie, Emancipation. He claimed that he had avoided filming movies on slavery for years before accepting the role. But the film is focused on the strength of black love.
He stated:
“We are going to make a story about how Black love makes us invincible.”
