Actress, Lilian Afegbai reveals downside of being a celebrity

Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Lilian Afegbai, has stated that her career was the primary reason she lost a relationship.

She disclosed this in a pidgin-English-language video that was shared on social media.

Becoming a celebrity is not an easy task according to her, she advised individuals who admire them and wish to emulate them to think twice.

According to the screen diva, there is a cost associated with the celebrity status, and the majority of people are not ready for that part of it.

All they want are the glitzy parts of it.

She went on to discuss the financial hardship that came with becoming a celebrity and an actor.

Adding that she gave up a potential relationship with a decent man because of her acting career.

She said:

“Omo, this celebrities status, I want to be celebrity, are you prepared because it is not easy. No be the one wey you go reach 30 years and you will say you want to jump the fence and say oh, I am depressed. It is not easy ooo.

Three weeks ago, you know say I dey do akanchawa real estate one side. I come dey close deal with one guy on the side wey buy property from my boss I dey work for. I come meet him friend who is a single guy.

You know single girls when you meet clean guys, you will just be chitchatting. I come dey ask the guy, oh are you married? He said no. Do you have kids? He said no. Are you a Christian, he said yes.

I asked him, which church do you attend? He told me Daystar, everything just dey nice and I said what God cannot do does not exist.

My own time don reach ooo, we come dey chat, you know all those secondary school calls. In two weeks, the guy don dey show me some moves.

We go church together, everything choke, I don give am title for my head. I don dey plan wedding for my head.

One day, we went for dinner and he asked me why I am always saying we are shooting. He also asked what else I did.

I come dey run my mouth, I told him I am an actress, I told him that I stopped at a time, but I am back again. I also told him that I influence for some brands.

I no know say naa the resume wey go scatter everywhere na wetin I dey drop. Naa so the guy reverse, he reverse like 360 degree, e bi like magic.

The guy no dey call again and I felt, I should act and play hard to get. He sent me an Instagram page and asked if it was my page and I said yes, that was the last time I heard from the guy.

Yesterday, the guy come call me and said since I told him I was an actress, he doesn’t want wahala, this and that. I told the guy that I am different, it’s just a fake life and he said we should just be business partners.

I just concluded that you cannot be judging me by whatever, it means you are not for me, I just move on. But low key, I just dey sad, I just dey think, if say I dey use the accounting I study for school, everything for just dey smooth with this guy.

Omo! the thing pain me gan!”
