Tanzanian police releases Kizz Daniel

August 9,2022
Share:

After being imprisoned for several hours, Tanzanian police officials have freed Nigerian musician, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe better knownas Kizz Daniel.

At the Oysterbay Police Station, he was detained behind well guarded doors.

His release was however announced Monday night on Twitter by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

She wrote on Twitter:

“KD has been released . His legal team will, however, report back to the police tomorrow while he will subsequently return to Nigeria”.

Since Monday afternoon, when word of the singer’s detention spread quickly, the singer’s management has remained silent.

The star singer was alledgedly detained by Tanzanian organizers of the Summer Amplified Show after he failed to appear at the well publicized performance on Sunday night.

An article in the Tanzanian newspaper “The Citizen” claimed that the singer skipped the Summer Amplified performance at the Warehouse Arena (formerly Next Door Arena) in Dar es Salaam.

Entry prices for the concert, which featured Tanzanian musicians Mario, Saraphina, and Mabantu, reportedly ranged from Sh50,000 to Sh20,000,000.

The article said that his arrest followed the mayhem that occurred at the event venue Warehouse Club in the early hours of Monday.

From 10 p.m. till daybreak, his audience waited for him to perform, resulting in unspecified damages.

Unauthenticated sources claim that Kizz Daniel missed the event because he forgot his luggage in Uganda and wouldn’t wear anyone else’s or buy new ones.

Prior to Sunday, the musician had received two cautions in a month for abruptly cancelling his gigs.

Fans first criticized him on July 7 for missing the sold-out performance of the Afronation US Classic tour in Maryland, USA, and they did so again after he postponed his engagement there until July 20.

The singer has not commented or posted anything on his social media accounts.
