Souq Vibe Kaftan Collection: When men blend fashion with culture

Sedeeq Royal Couture has launched its new kaftan collection called ‘Souq Vibe Kaftan Collection’.

The collection was designed and made with diverse fabrics for classic men who are keen on blending fashion with culture.

Kaftans are usually made with soft and lightweight fabrics to ensure comfortability for the wearer. The Souq Vibe Kaftan Collection had fabrics ranging from crepe to silk, wool, lace and cashmere. These fabrics were chosen for their soft textures and the fact that they are more suited for the flowy feel that the torso part of the fabric gives.

Kaftans are more popular in grey, black and white but the Souq Vibe Kaftan Collection boasts colours that project warmth, power and class. It employs colours such as mustard, maroon, navy blue, burnt orange, and burgundy. The colours are soft, but they command attention wherever they are spotted.

They could easily be combined with other colours to either ensure stronger projections or tone down a louder colour.

The designer of the kaftans in this collection, Sodiq Olalekan Akanni of Sedeeq Royal Couture, did justice to the choice of fabrics because they turned out quite regal even though, the lower parts of the upper wear are a little too free-flowing for men. This does not mean that the Souq Vibe Kaftan Collection was not well made; its just that one would expect the wearer to look like a rich Arabian in it. The free flow and sophisticated look expected with the designs are absent on each piece.
It is naturally expected that the collection would have louder colours or one of the usual colours for those who may still be interested. This is because the Souq, which the collection is named after, is known for the availability of choices and colours.

The ones who chose bright colours often had to find colours that muted or enhanced the colours, while those who prefer cool colours liked to compliment with hints of bright colours so as not to be monotoned.

Nonetheless, the collection was warm and regal in a subtle way. The collections name, Souq, in Arabic means marketplace, and in the marketplace, colours are either quite bright or muted in such a way that everything is in harmony and not too single-toned.

Hopefully, subsequent designs or collections will have a balanced choice of colours for the wearers for fear of seeming biased. But then, fashionistas are patiently waiting to behold more colours and originality-infused designs from Sedeeq.
