“I’m bisexual, not gay” – Bolu Okupe

January 22,2023
Share:

Two years after initially coming out as gay, Bolu, the son of former Labour Party Presidential Campaign Director General Doyin Okupe, has confirmed his sexual identity.

The 29-year-old has acknowledged being bisexual.

He came out as gay in a post on Instagram on January 20, 2021. Additionally, he shared a video of himself dancing with a half-naked man and woman to Domo Wilson’s “Bisexual Anthem.”

The clip’s song quote includes the following line:

He wrote in the caption of an Instagram photo of himself between the half-nude couple that bisexuality in the black and African cultures should be less stigmatized and more freely discussed.

Recall that in December 2021, Bolu, a resident of Europe, noted that homosexuality and bisexuality are topics that are almost taboo in black African communities, with men being the majority.

He added that many black and African bisexual men choose to remain in the closet and live under the straight label in order to avoid the tiresome and unrelenting judgments of both sides, which may occasionally be understood but never excused.

Ironically, Bolu said that he came out as gay at the age of 10. He also disclosed his future parental intentions.

The senior Okupe, a former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan, said Bolu was on a divine mission in 2021 when he first came out of the closet.

He claimed that Bolu was visiting the LGBT neighborhood to serve as a tool of God for them. By God’s grace, that is what will take place.

He clarified that his son’s sexual orientation had always been known to his family and that he believed the influence came from living overseas for a considerable amount of time.

He stated:
