Lawsuit: APC supported refutes defaming Mr Macaroni
Babatunde Qudus, a fervent supporter of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress’ presidential candidate, has reacted to the defamation lawsuit Adebowale Adedayo, alias Mr. Macaroni, brought against him.
Qudus, a critic of Mr. Macaroni, was sued after it was claimed that the skit maker had received N7 million to support Peter Obi.
Recall that the comedian drummed his support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, last year.
But a number of people had harshly criticized him for endorsing him.
Qudus alleged in a tweet that the content creator had solicited funds to support Obi.
“Wow wow so Macaroni was given N7 million from diasporans supporters of Peter Obi just to make an official statement that he will vote Peter Obi.
“Gullible fools that wanted to burn Lagos during Endsars, can you see how Macaroni is cashing out. I dare Macaroni to deny that he never collected N7 million from diaspora supporters of Peter Obi to openly say so.”
In response to the charge, the comedian claimed he picked out Babatunde and a certain Sadiq as examples of persons who had criticized him because of unfounded claims and defamation.
Mr Macaroni said; “We have sent Qudus his letter by email and hand. Qudus once asked for my lawyers address so he could pick the letter up himself. If you still want to do so, so as to confirm the authencity of the letter. It’s right on the letter head.”
He declared that he has started legal action against the APC supporter and released screenshots of the posts made by his detractors.
Via his attorney, Lukman Fagbemi, Babatunde responded to Mr Macaroni and denied the accusations.
In the letter dated February 17, Babatunde claimed that his message was only a harmless social media teasing and that it had been misinterpreted.
The letter read;
“In definite terms, our client denies all the allegations contained in your letter under reference and categorically states that they are untrue, unfounded, baseless and unsupported by any iota of proof.
“The contents of your letter to our client and the conclusion reached therein came to our client as a rude shock and it is surprising that your client can claim at this stage to have been defamed by our client when he’s fully aware that the alleged statements credited to our client are a mere exchange of vulgar abusive words popularly known as ‘banter’ in the social media space between our client and Mr Debo Adedayo, which ensued in their bid to support their individual preferred presidential candidates and political parties, namely and majorly the All Progressives Congress, Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party.”
