Nutritional benefits of Spinach

Spinach is one of the most commonly known and consumed worldwide leafy green vegetables, it is also one of the most highly nutritious vegetables. 

Nutrients found in spinach includes: Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Lutein, Kaempferol, Potassium, Vitamin A, Folate.

Benefits

Spinach contains an anti antioxidant known as alpha-lopic acid, which helps reduce diabetes.

Spinach contains chlorophyll which has been suggested to have anti cancer properties. So people who eat lots of spinach and green vegetables may have a lower risk of developing cancer.

Due to it’s potassium content, spinach may help reduce or manage high blood pressure

Spinach contains vitamin K which acts as a modifier of bone health

Promotes digestive regularity as it is high in fiber and water content.

It has large quantities of Vitamin A which moderates oil production in skin pores and hair follicles to moisturize the skin and hair.

29.7mg of calcium

0.81g of iron

24mg of magnesium

167mg of potassium

Culinary Uses: Spinach can be consumed raw in salads, or cooked in variety of dishes, such as soups, stews, pastas, and sautés. It can also be used in smoothies and juices.

Varieties: There are varieties of spinach, including flat-leaf (or smooth) spinach, savoy spinach (which has crinkly leaves), and semi-savoy spinach (which is a cross between flat-leaf and savoy).
