Why I will vote Sanwo-Olu for governor – Mercy Johnson

Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson has received harsh criticism for supporting Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, for a second term in office on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The mother of four announced on Instagram that she would support Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the postponed March 18th gubernatorial election.

She wrote;

This is why my choice is Governor Babajide Sanwoolu; his efforts has improved healthcare, women’s development, transportation, entrepreneurship, education, and infrastructure in Lagos State.

Key points for me include the handling of the Covid 19 pandemic, entrepreneurship support and his efforts in helping women who are victims of domestic violence by supporting their businesses.

Johnson said she is ready to support the governor’s re-election because she thinks the results of his administration are tangible and verifiable.

In her words;

His results can be seen and measured. Yes, there is still a lot of work left to do, I believe in my heart that he can and will do as he says.

Although she remained apolitical throughout the presidential race, some individuals took issue with her post since it appeared to support Sanwo-Olu.

Many people criticized her in the comments section of her post for not endorsing any presidential candidates in light of her husband’s victory. They claimed that her decision would have had an impact on her husband’s electoral success.
