Artful Streetwear: A Comprehensive Review of Lummie’s Fashion Line’s Meraki Collection
By Yemisi Suleiman
The Meraki Collection was launched by Lummie’s Fashion Line to give a vantage point of view to streetwear. Lummie’s Fashion Line is known for always delivering eclectic pieces that are often simple yet compelling.

The Meraki collection was the same, featuring various streetwear designs for both men and women.
The designer describes the Collection as a tribute to a nickname an old friend gave him on account of the creativity and adeptness the designer applies to the fashion pieces that the brand churns out.
Meraki collection features clothes such as shorts, joggers, tracksuits, vests, hooded and regular crop tops, hoodies, and varsity-themed jackets.
The Collection is what one can describe as fully loaded as the clothes are made with mixed fabrics such as Ankara, Lace, Adire, Jeans, and a plain cotton fabric.
The fabrics are mixed in such a way that few of the fabrics were made to give the illusion of inlay in some of the designs, while for other designs, the styles were carefully designed as patterned fabric embroidery on the plain fabric. The Varsity-themed jackets were a mix of Ankara, Jeans, and plain fabric.
The crop tops were made available in plain fabric and one of each (Ankara, Lace, Adire, Jeans) to give women options.

The tracksuits featured Raglan-sleeved tracksuits for mobility and flexibility, especially for those who may wish to re-purpose the tracksuit as gym wear.
The Collection boasts of beautiful colors such as Emerald Green, Neon Blue, Lemon, White, and Black, amongst other colors. The Meraki collection boasts colors that can be complimented with one another and worn alone or without jewelry.
For example, the female jeans hooded crop top can be paired with the Neon Green plain fabric shorts or the black plain fabric joggers. The men can pair the Ankara/Adire on Plain Fabric varsity- themed jackets with joggers or colorful shorts.
As much as the choice is abundant for all, some things could be improved with a few of the fabrics, and this is in terms of choice of fabric, specifically jeans. While jeans seem like a very beautiful and versatile fabric, they can be a bit uncomfortable on the skin for some people, hence the gripe of seeing a jeans tracksuit.
There is no guarantee of comfort, even though one can not deny the beauty of the design. That particular piece was made because of extra fabric, which the designer did not want to waste.
The Meraki collections can be likened to a creative work of art that was released to show the merger between streetwear, fashion, and art. We look forward to Lummie’s Fashion Line’s next beautiful pieces.
