Words By – Josephine Agbonkhese

No doubts, the red carpets bustled in 2023, bowing to numerous significant fashion trends and runway shows.

Indeed, Nigerian A-list stars drew attention in a variety of striking innovative  looks, both at home and abroad during fashion weeks, awards season, movie premieres, and launches.

As the year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on which celebrities delivered the best fashion moments in 2023; and here are Allure’s picks for the best dressed celebrities of 2023.

FEMALES

Mercy Eke

Mercy Eke attended the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award in May, wearing a Cardi B-inspired outfit. The bejewelled figure-baring bespoke Xtrbridgelagos dress featured a corset-style bodice in a satin fabric. Accessorised with matching gloves and cape with her hair styled in a simple low bun, she completed the look with a glossy neutral lip colour and smokey eye shadow.

Beauty Tukura

In May 2023, ex-beauty queen and former BBNaija housemate, Beauty Tukura, stormed the red carpet of the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, donning a Dahmola Couture mermaid-inspired, bejewelled dress featuring scale-like detailing. The talkshow host won Best Dressed Female at the event.

Tems

In March, Singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, got tongues wagging when she appeared on the red carpet of the 2023 Oscars in Los Angeles draped in a white sculptural gown by Ukrainian brand, Lever Couture. The gown featured a large, stunning headpiece with her hair styled in an updo, bringing all the focus to the outfit.

Kiekie

Digital content creator, entertainer, actress and events host, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, aka Kiekie, literally served elegance throughout 2023.

Exactly two weeks ago, she made a golden statement in this metallic number. Kiekie complemented the Accost Collection two-piece outfit with a pair of matching ankle-boots and large stud earrings.

Lily Afegbai

In May 2023, Nollywood actress and film producer, Lily Afegbai, embraced the Barbie trend wearing this Matopeda Atelier head-to-toe pink dress. Featuring gloves and a pair of hose, she looked a really big Barbie in the electric pink outfit.

Chioma Goodhair

In another chic nod to the sculptural outfit trend, Chioma Ikokwu, aka Goodhair, looked fabulous attending the 2023 Lagos Fashion Week in this artistic all-black dress designed by LFJ. Her artistic clutch bag and statement sunglasses really put a finishing seal on the look.

MALES

Enioluwa Adeoluwa

In a sophisticated nod to 2023’s latte fashion trend, Enioluwa Adeoluwa aka Eni stunned in this embellished two-toned Orange Culture suit at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in May, strolling home with the Best Dressed Male Award plaque in hand.

Akin Faminu

Fashion content creator, Akin Faminu, was fierce in all-black as he attended the 2023 Lagos Fashion Week donning a deconstructed jacket by Deji & Kola. Layered over a sheer body-hug, the masterpiece, styled with a wide-brimmed hat and a matching pair of black heeled boots, spelled sophistication.

Chidi Mokeme

“Shantytown” star, Chidi Mokeme, attended the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in May, reaffirming his nickname ‘GQ’ in an embroidered sage Jax Grehman bespoke tuxedo. The slim-fit look styled with a crisp pleated shirt and bow tie of the same hue was finished-up with a pair of black loafers and a statement walking cane.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu

As usual, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu served looks throughout 2023. In November, the reality TV star and events host slayed effortlessly in prints, donning a Mai Atafo tuxedo at the Los Angeles premiere of Hollywood’s “Candy Cane Lane”.
