The Warri Fashion Week which held from 22nd through 26th April 2024, was abuzz with excitement as Oyinkansola Owoyemi, the creative director of the brand Menucha Fashion, unveiled her latest masterpiece, the “Ruffles and Radiance Collection.”

The collection captivated the audience with its stunning array of colors, textures, and designs, showcasing a perfect blend of timeless elegance and contemporary trends.

The collection showcases the use of luxurious and quality fabrics like satin, plain cotton, silk, spandex, and organza. Owoyemi’s expert use and choice of fabrics reflected her deep understanding of texture, movement, and visual appeal while maintaining an air of timeless elegance.

The satin pieces exuded luxury, the plain cotton provided a crisp, clean look, and the organza added an ethereal touch with its sheer, lightweight quality. Silk brought a level of opulence to the evening wear, while spandex ensured a comfortable yet stylish fit for the more casual pieces.

The runway show was nothing short of spectacular. As the lights dimmed, the first model stepped onto the runway, setting the tone for what was to come.

Dressed in a striking coral mini dress with dramatic ruffle details along the sleeves, the model exuded confidence and flair. The ruffles added a playful yet sophisticated touch, catching the light with every movement and highlighting the luxurious satin fabric.

Following the mini dress, another model graced the runway in a soft pink strapless gown. The delicate folds and drapes of the fabric, combined with a subtle sheen, created a radiant look that was both chic and effortlessly feminine.

The use of diverse color palettes was evident as each piece introduced a new hue, from bold reds to pastel blues. Hence, Owoyemi’s vibrant color palette includes pinks, vibrant yellows, orange, white peach, black, blue, emerald green, red, and purple.

The Ruffles and Radiance Collection features a portfolio of pieces that includes armless gowns with sleek, minimalist designs, crop tops paired with high-waist skirts, and trousers, offering a versatile range of outfits for different occasions.

Bum shorts and mini dresses brought a youthful, playful energy to the collection, while long evening gowns added a touch of sophistication and glamour.

One standout piece was a long evening gown, which has a form-fitting design that accentuates the model’s figure.

The standout feature of this gown is the white ruffled embellishments on the bust area, which add texture and contrast to the otherwise simple dress. Another highlight was a high-waist trouser set crafted from spandex, offering a modern take on formal wear with its clean lines and impeccable fit.

Owoyemi meticulously crafted this collection to redefine fashion norms while making the collection stand as a beacon of innovation and elegance in the fashion world, with each piece showcasing her ability to transform fabrics into wearable art.

As she rightly puts it, the collection is a testament to her vision of fashion as a form of self-expression, and she encourages wearers to embrace their true selves and showcase their style with confidence.

This Fashion Runway event was an attempt at a 100-hour non-stop fashion runway that set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous fashion runway show, serving as evidence of the city’s burgeoning influence in the global fashion industry.

The Ruffles and Radiance collection, alongside over 200 other collections, played a significant role in this historic achievement, as this collection not only dazzled the runway but also won the hearts of the audience.

The unique designs and the seamless blend of fabrics and colors captivated both fashion enthusiasts and critics. As each model took their turn on the runway, the audience responded with enthusiastic applause while showering their praise and support on Owoyemi, the creative lead of this collection.

Conversations buzzed with excitement as attendees discussed their favorite pieces. One prominent element is the ruffle details, vividly seen in almost all the designs, which drew widespread admiration for their ability to add a dynamic and playful element to the outfits.

The luxurious feel of the fabrics, from the sheen of satin to the elegance of silk, did not go unnoticed, with many remarking on the high quality and meticulous craftsmanship of each piece.

The Warri Fashion Festival 2024 was truly a night to remember, as fashion enthusiasts expressed their appreciation for the versatility of the collection. The inclusion of both timeless staples and contemporary designs ensured that there was something for every occasion, from casual outings to glamorous evenings.

This collection’s vibrant colors, luxurious fabrics, and versatile designs are sure to make waves in the fashion industry, solidifying Menucha Fashion’s place as a leading brand in contemporary fashion.

The audience’s enthusiastic reaction is a clear indication that Oyinkansola Owoyemi’s latest collection has not only met but exceeded expectations, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed its unveiling.
