WHAT DOES POWER DRESSING LOOK LIKE IN 2025?

July 16,2025
Share:

2025 flooded our feeds and faces with a variety of styles, and we are glad every designer is becoming intentional about every bit of design.

Through her collection, Oluwabamise Iretioluwa Ola, founder of Bstyle and a designer par excellence, has shown that power dressing is less about showing off the clothes you have in your wardrobe and more about showing up like you own the room.

When the Nigerian fashion entrepreneur, Oluwabamishe Iretioluwa Ola, founded Bstyle in 2019, she wasn’t just about cutting and sewing garments for women who reached out to her; she wanted to create a unique language, using it as a way for people to express and speak one language of courage, freedom and self-celebration. Bstyle is the brand that empowers anyone to carry themselves with class and prestige.

The designs are for those who know their worth and are ready to find where they belong. It is for those who know what it takes to be humble, yet classy. In Bstyle’s collection, the careful consideration of the fabric used is mind-blowing. The brand understands what it means to make fabric choices that best suit a particular style.

True to their word, crafting power dresses isn’t just something they decided to come up with one day; it was an intentional decision that has become the heart of everything that they do. Every bright and flowery pattern was carefully chosen. Every style crafted was deliberately sewn to reflect the wearer’s personality and fashion sense. Only Iretioluwa can turn a simple office wear into something irresistible.
‘To us, we want to inspire confidence, celebrate femininity, and promote body positivity. We recognise that every woman is wonderfully unique and we strictly reflect this philosophy, because yes, that is who we are.’

The founder’s voice resounds in our heads and sticks in our hearts as we review the brand’s 2025 collection. The review is also guided by a few of the global fashion criteria, which are the same yardstick used by top designers. And because Iretioluwa doesn’t just affect the wardrobes but the wearers, we’ll review the dresses from the lens of customers who have had a first-hand experience of the brand. After all, fashion means little if it doesn’t affect those who wear it.
Here’s how we’ve broken down the four outfits in this collection.

Iretioluwa is leading us into a world filled with inspiration that transcends from one generation to the next. We can only imagine how this dress flows like the sea waves; it’s bold, yet graceful. This captures the essence of the brand, a fashion that breathes confidence and poise. The first dress in this collection is very pretty.

The material looks like a sheen with high quality and class. And that is why this dress is a special one. It is comfortable around the arms and bust, making it easy to move and be yourself. In fact, this dress can give you the compliment that you deserve, and of course, the designer.

This is a sky-blue floral dress that reminds us of the movie series, ‘Bridgerton’. Aside from the shoulder pad, every pattern and style looks similar. The gown’s short arm creates an exposure for the wearer’s hand, showing her chocolate body colour, encouraging women to be proud of their body colour, which is also their identity.

The outfit’s waistline was intentionally made free, that is, from the bust to the waistline, which seems to match and be on point. It is such that if it were sewn any differently other than this, the remaining parts would have had flaws. But that’s different now. And then there are the three-step ruffles, which seem to appear at different heights and levels. There is one a little bit further from the waistline, the second ruffle was stationed in the middle, and then the third was beneath, but quite far from the hem.

Before concluding this dress’ review, it is important to state one glaring factor that threatens the success of this design. The dress has an open cut that exposes the wearer’s chest. While it is stylish and might be loved by some women, the dress can still stand out without such a deep cut. A minimal round cut would have done the trick. Plus, it won’t be a preferred choice for the cold season. A V-neck would have been more intriguing and captivating.

Recommendation: For the lovers of this outfit, here’s a tip. Wear heels to increase carriage. Wear a silver bracelet with matching earrings to give it a complete look.

Next is a satin sky-blue gown. The dress features an oversized silhouette with voluminous sleeves and a cinched waist. This style choice creates a flattering waist for the wearer. The story behind this kind of dress can be rooted in self-expression and boldness, which is the centre of Iretioluwa’s brand. In Africa’s history, a short, comfortable gown speaks the millennial language, showing the uniqueness, regardless of age and size. All that matters is being able to maintain your steeze and class without losing your gentility and vibrancy. This is one way by which Iretioluwa can match the wearer’s energy.

The V-neck line makes the outfit more elegant, while the overall lustrous fabric used suggests a luxurious feel. Depending on the preferred style, the design is versatile and suitable for all kinds of occasions. While it has the relaxed feel of a robe, the design makes it suitable for casual parties or outings or even formal events when combined with the appropriate accessories. The only downside is how voluminous the sleeves are. It’s so long and wide that it is almost reaching the gown’s length, which isn’t ideal. Someone petite might not love this sleeve. Overall, the dress gives grace and poise to the wearer, especially when it is styled properly.

Recommendation: This dress can be worn for a daytime or evening event, or even events like bridal showers and dinners. Check out global brands that have this kind of design in their collection and see what to incorporate in this dress.

Now, regarding the sky blue and striped pants outfit, there is another side to the wear. To start with, everything about it speaks minimally. From the blouse to the trousers. Judging from the styles, one would gauge the designer’s creativity level. At least, it can suffice for all kinds of occasions. Material choice is smart and sustainable. From the texture to the durability, the choice of fabrics used matches global standards.

The blouse has a round neck that firmly holds together the shoulders, down to the sleeves. The sleeves are a unique and creative one that could be adopted for blouses like this. This is due to how suiting it can be for all body sizes. The blouse is then tucked into high-waist trousers. Rather than use the same material used for the top, Iretioluwa decided to use a sky blue striped and baby pink mixture to blend. And it came out amazingly well. However, the wear doesn’t need many accessories, just a silver, gold or black heel shoe will complete the outlook.
Recommendation: The designer can go as far as experimenting with this same style with different materials to see how each one of the fabrics blends and fits.

The final dress in this collection is an emerald green. It is maxi in length, and it has this ruching squeeze on its bodice and sleeves. The designer’s creativity with the ruches creates a smooth texture and flattering silhouette. This stylish dress is a modest style suitable for all kinds of events, including bridesmaids or the maid of honour. The emerald, green gown is fine. The ruches add beauty to the clothes’ aesthetic. And of course, the highlight of it all is how it surrounds and balls around the wearer.
However, the length could be a disadvantage to some people, making them trip or fall. In other words, wearers might need to be more careful with how they walk and handle the dress.
Recommendation: The designer can provide another option of a shorter gown that has shorter sleeves, thereby encouraging versatility.
Do these dresses give the CEO a pass mark? Yes, they do, and anyone who can see the effort put into the pieces and has experienced the brand can tell the same story. Iretioluwa’s 2025 collection is a success. The downsides that were pointed out were not major, but if considered by the designer, 100% satisfaction is guaranteed.
Well done, Bstyle collection, we cannot wait for next year’s release.
