Theo Threads & Styles brought a fresh perspective to contemporary African fashion at the AFAA Showcase 2025 this February with their new collection, Versatile Motion.

Designed by the creative director and fashion designer Egunjobi Oluwasegun Alabi, the collection was a masterclass in blending structured tailoring with relaxed, effortless silhouettes.

The show took place at the Arts & Culture Exhibition Pavilion in Abuja, a venue that perfectly complemented the collection’s modern, urban aesthetic. With a clean, well-lit runway and a digital backdrop displaying the brand’s logo, the setting created an atmosphere that allowed every detail of the garments to stand out.

The collection opened with a striking black ensemble that immediately set the tone. A long-sleeved asymmetric crop top, featuring cinched detailing at the waist, was paired with flowing wide-leg pants that moved elegantly as the model walked. The play between fitted and relaxed elements created a look that was both structured and free-flowing.

The next outfit took a completely different approach, bringing colour into the mix with a vibrant watercolour-patterned bomber jacket and matching trousers. The blend of turquoise, peach, and deep blue tones made the look feel bold yet refined.

Utility and functionality were key themes throughout the collection. A standout was the beige cargo suit, featuring a structured button-up jacket with oversized pockets and coordinating straight-leg pants with additional cargo details.

This look struck a balance between ruggedness and sophistication, making it a versatile choice for both casual and semi-formal settings. Another piece that embraced the utility trend was a striking burnt orange co-ord set, consisting of a boxy cropped jacket and matching cargo-style pants with multiple pockets and metal ring accents.

The boldness of the colour amplified the structured elements of the outfit, making it impossible to ignore. There was also a strong emphasis on gender-neutral fashion, with pieces that blurred traditional lines between menswear and womenswear.

A loose-fitting green jacket, layered over a fitted black crop top and wide-leg trousers, was effortlessly chic and exuded confidence. A model in a monochrome black jumpsuit with a high neckline and subtle drawstring details showcased the collection’s ability to merge simplicity with high fashion.Styling choices further elevated the presentation.

The models were diverse in their looks and walked with a confidence that brought the outfits to life. Hairstyles varied from sleek, sculpted updos to voluminous, textured curls, while makeup was minimal but accented with artistic embellishments, such as geometric facial dots.

Footwear played an important role in reinforcing the collection’s versatility. Chunky lace-up boots, sleek heels, and strappy sandals all appeared, showing that these pieces could be styled in countless ways.

Versatile Motion was more than just a collection of clothes; it was a statement on modern African fashion. By combining elements of streetwear, workwear, and high fashion, Theo Threads & Styles delivered a lineup that felt contemporary, functional, and effortlessly stylish.

Egunjobi Oluwasegun Alabi proved once again that he understands the evolving needs of fashion-forward individuals, crafting pieces that move seamlessly from day to night and from the streets to the runway.
