CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY ROMANCE

By Adesuwa Ewoigbokhan

The vibrant city of Lagos is alive with the sounds of Afrobeats and the aroma of pepper pot soup wafting through the air. The streets are decked out in colourful decorations, and the smell of fresh jollof rice and suya fills the atmosphere.

For Isoken, a busy marketing executive, she’s taken a break from her hectic life to visit her family in Lagos, hoping to use the opportunity to recharge and refocus.

One evening, Isoken’s friends convinced her to join them at a Christmas party at Eko Hotel & Suites. The atmosphere was electric, with people dancing and laughing together. That’s when she sees him – a charming stranger who catches her eye as he spins to a lively beat on the dance floor. Their gaze met, and Isoken felt a spark of electricity run through her body.
The stranger, Segun, introduced himself as a music producer, and they both danced the night away. They talked about their shared love of music, Nigerian culture, and the holiday season. As the night wore on, Isoken found herself feeling carefree and happy, enjoying the simple pleasures of the season. Segun too, seemed to be having the time of his life, laughing and joking with her as if they’d known each other for years.

The next day, Segun invited Isoken to join him at the National Theatre, where a traditional dance troupe was performing. They watched in awe as the dancers moved in perfect sync, their costumes shimmering under the lights. After the performance, Segun took Isoken to a nearby café, where they sipped kunu and talked about their dreams and aspirations.

As the days went by, Isoken and Segun grew closer, and they explored the city together, trying all the local delicacies. They even went to the beach where they had a good time building sandcastles and laughed together. They visited the National Museum, where they learned about Nigeria’s rich history and culture. With each passing day, their connection deepened, and Isoken found herself falling for Segun’s charming smile and kind heart.

As the holiday season wore on, Isoken realised that she has found something special with Segun especially as she came to Lagos seeking relaxation and rejuvenation; instead, she find love.

As they exchanged gifts and spent quality time together, Isoken knew that this Christmas would be a memory she’ll cherish forever and with Segun by her side, she’s excited to see what the future holds for them, and she’s looking forward to creating more unforgettable moments together.
The festive season has brought them together, and Isoken is grateful for the gift of love!

 Happy Christmas holiday.
