WHY ARE YOU REALLY GETTING MARRIED? -Betty Irabor asks intending couples

Publisher, Genevieve Magazine, Betty Irabor has been speaking on the need to be careful about WHO we choose to marry and WHY.

This is because our actions have consequences and we pay and continue to pay for poor choices.
In a long post on her Instagram, Betty adviced anyone in an abusive relationship to seek help.
According to her, “the first red flag is when your husband forbids to earn a living and be independent”
She wrote:”The table is set for a banquet.@victoriarobertssolutions

Some lucky couples are going to take their FOR BETTER FOR WORSE vows today hoping that the package will contain all their childhood  fairy tale fantasies and  they will live happily ever after. I wish!

Some time last month, I got a distress call from a married woman and mother of 3. She sent an SOS because she was in an abusive relationship although her husband was very rich and provided for them.
She said he abused her in front of her children and abused her at will. She seemed very petrified.
She had approached a Shelter but was told there were no immediate accommodation for her;  the Shelter was also closed for the holidays.
She put so much pressure on me that between @taradurotoye and a few people in Lagos state we got her into the Shelter only for her to return home 48 hours later!

Her abuser had reached out to her with all kinds of emotionally manipulative texts. “So,you want to suffer your children like that” he wrote. She recognised the pattern but she still moved back home.
She  complained about the discomfort of the shelter. Her children could not sleep because there is no AC. “They were crying”

I cant judge her because  I dont exactly know what goes on in the minds of abused women especially where there is no financial independence as in her case.

What I do know is that our actions have consequences and we pay and continue to pay for our poor choices in marriage as in life.
Marriage and all its social paraphernalia is awesome but we need to be careful about WHO we choose to marry and WHY.
Think deep and be honest .. WHY ARE YOU REALLY GETTING MARRIED? IS IT FOR SECURITY, STATUS, LOVE,  CLOUT, FOR THE CULTURE OR SOCIETY?
HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR PARTNER AND THEIR FAMILY?
MARRIAGE DOES NOT FIX ANYTHING THAT ISNT FIXABLE BEFORE MARRIAGE.
BE CAREFUL OF THE CHOICES YOU MAKE… BE WISE.
*** if you’re in an abusive relationship do seek help. The first red flag is when your husband forbids you to earn a living and be independent.”
