Seyi Shay Pens Down Emotional Tribute to Sound Sultan

July 19,2021
Share:

Seyi Shay wrote an emotional homage to the Sound Sultan, who she said brought her to Nigeria and has been her “guardian” and “godfather” ever since.

She stated that the late artist had an exemplary life and was always there for everyone, all of the time.

She wrote:

Aboo @faridafasasi said you waited for me , guess you couldn’t hold on any longer. I only had 1 more episode to do though… guess that’s why they didn’t wanna tell me.
In hindsight it was your spirit that even got me through the show that fateful Sunday. I guess the same way our Nigerian basket ball team beat USA (your spirit was definitely on that Court)  You lived an exemplary life. You were Humble and you were there for everyone, every time. No excuses.

You brought me to Nigeria and you and Cecil created Seyi Shay. That was in 2012. You have been my guardian and Godfather ever since.

Baba my mentor, my confidant, my small daddy, my defender, my peace, my brother and my inspiration…

The only one that never EVER judged me. You forgave me and welcomed me home with open arms when I went astray.

You were such a nice and peaceful man. Simple but profound in every way.
I’ll miss our midnight Indomie sessions, Xmas and birthdays. I’ll miss your wit and your sarcasm. I’ll miss your honesty with me. Ill miss your fatherly hugs, smiles and the fatherly discipline you gave me.

You are an inspiration to a whole generation !! your music, comedy, productions, philanthropy and intellect.

I’ll make you proud again Baba and I’ll keep my end of the bargain

Thank you for giving me Aboo and the kids as my own. At least I won’t feel alone…

You are Forever in my heart and at the beginning of my story. Cheers to a Happy ending

RIP @soundsultan
