When you see a slice of tomato in your salad or even in your spaghetti sauce, you probably don’t immediately think how full of benefits it is. This commonly seen fruit is rich in vitamins and nutrients, which is why you should eat it more often.

reasons you should eat tomatoes more often

Here are 9 reasons why Natural Cures think you should eat tomatoes more often:

They help avoid and control diabetes

If you have diabetes or you seek prevention, tomato can help you. Since its rich in chromium, it helps control blood sugar levels

They help control cholesterol

Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants like lycopene, which help reduce bad cholesterol levels. Its frequent consumption contributes to the prevention of diseases that could compromise our arteries and liver.

They prevent heart problems

Tomatoes can prevent heart diseases since they are great for our blood levels and help our heart function properly.

They are cancer-fighting

Some studies have shown the relationship between tomato consumption and a lower incidence of cancer. This is due to lycopene, a compound that protects the body from degeneration and diseases caused by free radicals, such as cancer.

Strengthens the immune system

Foods that are rich in vitamin C are great for the immune system. Tomatoes are rich in this vitamin but to be able to benefit from all its properties, it is best to consume it raw.

They help combat osteoporosis

A study showed that lycopene, a compound that gives tomatoes their red colours has a beneficial effect on our bone structure. According to researchers, the lack of lycopene during menopause can trigger osteoporosis.

They improve our vision

Tomatoes are great for our sight and eye health due to the presence of beta-carotene and lutein in their composition. These carotenoids help protect our eyes from degenerative diseases such as cataracts.

They facilitate digestion

By having vegetable fibers in their composition, tomatoes help our digestive tract to function correctly, fight constipation and prevent a lazy intestine.

They can help you lose weight

In addition to being low in calories, tomatoes stimulate the production of carnitine, an amino acid produced by our body that turns into energy.
