5 Common Skincare Mistakes We Make

By Linda Orajekwe

It is no news that appearance is everything, and for that reason, people are making an effort to ensure they look flawless either with makeup or other cosmetic products.

Skincare Mistakes We Make

But in trying to cover up these flaws, there are some basic things we have to take care of to ensure even the covered skin gets the quality attention it deserves by making minor but vital adjustments in our lifestyles.

1. Not washing your pillowcase & bedsheet frequently

Skincare Mistakes We Make

One skincare mistake we make is waiting for our pillowcase and bedsheet to be visibly dirty before sending to the laundry, and that is wrong. Wash it as often as you possibly can to reduce your contact with germs.

2. Not getting enough sleep

As adults, getting the recommended 8-hour sleep feels like a stretch because of our “busy schedule”, but not getting enough sleep will not only affect your skin due to stress that might lead to wrinkles, it will also affect your overall health.

3. Constantly touching your face

Skincare Mistakes We Make

During the early stages of COVID-19, we regularly heard this message; don’t touch your face. This is not just a COVID-19 prevention instruction. It can also affect our skincare routine as our hands come in contact with different germs that might find its way to our faces.

4. Not separating face and body towel

Skincare Mistakes We Make

This is a mistake many of us make. Your face should have its separate sheet due to how delicate it is from other parts of your body.

5. Over exfoliating the skin:

Exfoliating is good for the skin, but like everything else, too much of it bad. As much as we want to remove dead cells, let’s also understand how delicate the skin is and why too much scrubbing might cause a tear that’ll end up scarring the skin. So find the right way and let your skin be thankful for that!
