Scent Leaf Sauce: The Aromatic Delight You Should Try

Known for its distinctive fragrance and slightly peppery taste, scent leaf transforms even the simplest dishes into memorable meals. Nigerian Scent Leaf Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- Fresh scent leaves, washed and chopped
*4 large tomatoes, blended
*3 fresh red bell peppers (tatashe), blended
- 2–3 scotch bonnet peppers (ata rodo), blended
- 1 large onion, chopped
*Seasoning cubes - Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground crayfish
- Smoked fish, dried fish or assorted meat (optional)
*Palm oil or vegetable - Cooked beef, chicken or goat meat (optional)
Method
Heat the oil in a pot and sauté the chopped onions until fragrant.
Add the blended tomatoes and peppers, then cook until the excess liquid evaporates and the oil begins to separate.
Stir in the seasoning cubes, salt and crayfish.
Add your smoked fish, meat or any preferred protein and allow the flavours to combine for a few minutes.
Finally, add the chopped scent leaves and stir gently. Cook for just 2–3 minutes to preserve the fresh flavour and vibrant colour.
Remove from the heat and serve hot.
