Abdominal bloating causes discomfort and is a condition that may seem not-so-easy to treat. According to health experts, the real cause of stomach bloating is intestinal gas.

Unless bloating is caused by a medical condition like liver or heart disease, it is easy to treat it by applying home remedies.

Remedies for bloated stomach

ADD TURMERIC TO YOUR FOOD: Adding turmeric powder to your food can prevent stomach bloating. Turmeric helps in treating and preventing stomach bloating as an ingredient present in turmeric, which is also referred to as curcumin is a fat-soluble antioxidant. Turmeric also has healing properties and treats abdominal pain and bloating.

DRINK LEMON WATER: If you frequently feel bloated, then squeeze half a lemon in a glass of water and drink it. As lemon juice is a natural diuretic, it helps in treating bloated belly. Sometimes, our body might retain excess water when we eat too much sodium, thinking that we’re dehydrated. By drinking lemon juice, it helps in flushing out extra water content and gives relief from a bloated stomach.

INCREASE YOUR POTASSIUM INTAKE: Consuming potassium is a great remedy to treat bloating. It helps in flushing out excess salt from the body and maintains fluid balance. You must eat avocados, legumes and green leafy vegetables as they are a few excellent sources of potassium.

REDUCE SALT INTAKE: Another effective way you can treat bloating is by reducing salt intake. As sodium causes fluid retention, it can be responsible for causing bloating. If your body is susceptible to stomach bloating, keep a check on your salt intake and avoid junk foods which have high salt quantity.

PEPPERMINT TEA: Peppermint tea is considered as a great remedy to treat bloated stomach. This herb aids digestion as its ingredients like menthol and menthone have digestive and antispasmodic properties. Peppermint also helps in stimulating the secretion of gastric juice, which in turn, expels gas.
